Martin Hernandez says:

Based on what I’ve seen…

1. Interstellar. (Fuck the haters)
2. Birdman. (Lulz)
3. Nightcrawler.
4. Whiplash.
5. Gone Girl. (Crazy Kung Fu Wolf Bitch)
6. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. (Ape using akimbo rifles)
7. Guardians of the Galaxy. (What summer needed)
8. Edge of Tomorrow. (Live.Die.Repeat)
9. Captain America: The Winter Solider. (Not as good as I hoped, but still
10. The Lego Movie (Screw you I love legos)

Luke Pike says:

My top ten: First off, some honorable mentions:

John Wick (Very sleek and stylish action movie. Keanu is boss, and I
really hope there’s a sequel.)

Edge of Tomorrow (A very pleasant surprise. Very original and
entertaining. Great to see something fresh and new in an action movie.)

X-Men: Days of Future Past (Great super hero film.)

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (A very solid end to a great trilogy.)

And now the top ten:

#1. American Sniper (The only movie that brought me to tears all year.
Phenomenal acting. Bradley Cooper is maybe the best actor today. I didn’t
feel as much for any other character than I did for his all year. Eastwood
made this the most moving movie for me in a very long time. Incredible
film, and say what you will about Chris Kyle, but I think he’s a hero. All
he ever did was protect and serve his country and fellow soldiers. He was
a good man in my eyes.)

#2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (One of the best super hero
movies ever. Period. It absolutely blew me away. It was my #1 for the
longest time, and barely missed the cut. It’s more than a great hero
movie. It’s just an awesome movie in general.)

#3. Whiplash (‘Nuff said.)

#4. Interstellar (Nolan completely nailed the epic scope of this story in
my eyes. An absolutely incredible film. I know people like to hate, and
pick it apart, but for me, every single thing you can nitpick or criticize
in the movie, Nolan matches it with something completely awesome and epic
ten times over. Same thing can be said for DKR in my opinion.)

#5. Nightcrawler (Also wildly original. Gyllenhaal’s performance alone is
must-see. Awesome movie.)

#6. Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel Knocks it out of the park yet again.)

#7. Birdman (Wildly original, and absolutely fascinating movie. Every
actor killed it as well.)

#8. The Lego Movie (Fantastic, hilarious, and the best animated movie I’ve
seen in a long time.)

#9. The Equalizer (I probably like this movie much more than I should,
but there’s just something about Denzel that blows me away every time I see
him act. In all honesty, I think that both John Wick and Edge of tomorrow
are better action movies, but Denzel was just more powerful on screen than
Keanu and Cruise. That made the difference for me.)

#10. Draft Day (I know I’m probably the only person on earth who has this
in a top 10 list, but I’m just an NFL draft junkie, and I thought the movie
totally did it justice. Plus Kevin Costner was a huge bonus to the movie.
For those reasons, it makes the list.)

Kami Nkurunziza says:

Interstellar was a good movie but in my opinion it isn’t even in my top 5.
I feel like some people just put it high on their lists because it is Nolan

I know many people will disagree with interstellar but that movie almost

like it or liked it as much as others but it really worked for me. If you
disagree, try to keep it civilized because there are such things as
differences of opinion.

I really reeeeeealy liked Whiplash, but the movie is like less than 2 hours
long, it felt kinda cut short, i love it when movies are long and they take
their sweet ass time to tell the story, all while keeping you glued to the
screen, which is why, among all the 2014 movies ive seen i like Gone Girl
the most

Quinn Quintillus says:

I wouldn’t say Whiplash is my favorite of the year but it definitely
